enclosed: amy prattles about writing comics

whenever i jot down dialogue for potential comic narratives its always so heavy, there’s a real fixation on what’s being said and even though i feel like i have an interest and emphasis also on the specifics of physical communication i don’t know how to communicate the fullness of my ideas without being too dense….

i mean its all theoretical at this point. but i’m big on dialogue. and even though i like dialogue heavy movies/books/comics, because its what’s in peoples heads that interests me and i guess i’m too focused on expressing a specific message and meaning. i need to back off and “show not tell”, although i think following rules like that just on principle is bollocks. and whilst it can be a stylistic trait of my work i’ll still need to reel it in a bit i feel, for i would almost certainly lose the attention of most audiences if i can’t find a more visually or analogically engaging way of communicating my ideas, or slimming them down somehow…

smarty pants people who follow me, what kind of story-telling do you like? like not whether you like things because of themes, novel escapist value, humour etc but how do you like your stories told…
